Acupuncture is a holistic approach to health based on more than 2000 years of development and refinement in the Far East. By inserting needles at specific points on the body, the body's own healing response can be stimulated to restore and maintain health. Acupuncture can benefit a wide spectrum of acute and chronic illnesses as well as playing an important role in the prevention of illness. Many come with a specific symptom or condition but the effect of good acupuncture is to do more than simply alleviate symptoms. Treatment will focus on the individual rather than the disease.
Tuina (pronounced Twee Naa) is an oriental bodywork therapy that uses traditional Chinese medical theory as its basis. Tuina includes the use of hand techniques to massage soft tissue of the body, acupressure techniques to directly affect the flow of blood and energy and manipulation techniques to realign the body.
Ian combines the use of Acupuncture and Tuina to benefit a wide spectrum of complaints from muscular pains and injuries to depression and gynaecological disorders.
Treatment
The first treatment is 60 minutes in duration which will include the case history. Thereafter the treatments are 45 to 60 minutes in duration.
Number of treatments
This depends on each individual. Most people will be treated weekly until the symptoms have improved, before treatments are spaced out. Some patients then come as a preventative measure to strengthen their constitution or prevent the return of symptoms.
