 Thai Yoga Massage: Sarah Whiting

Traditional Thai Yoga Massage:

Thai Yoga Massage, or ?ancient massage' as it is known in Thai, is a healing art that dates back over 2,500 years. Its theory is based on the concept of energy lines, known as Sen, which run throughout the body and through which the natural life force flows. Blockages in the flow of this life force will restrict the vital energy and eventually cause aches, pains and dis-ease.

Therapists use their hands, feet and elbows to apply pressure to important pressure points along 10 of these major energy lines. These 10 Sen are selected from a multitude of energy lines (said to be around 72,000) on which there are important acupressure points.

In conjunction with gentle flowing yoga stretches, blockages are released to enhance the free flow of the body's natural life force. These yoga stretches are chosen from hundreds of exercises according to the needs of the individual. From all the beautiful yoga postures used one can see that yoga philosophy is the background of Thai massage.

Thai yoga massage is a powerful treatment both physically and emotionally and will leave the patient relaxed with more vitality and with a greater sense of harmony and well being.

Who can benefit and what can it help?

Thai yoga massage is highly beneficial to all, both young and old, flexible and inflexible and also wonderful for pregnant women and can be effective in helping treat:-

Back pain

Knee pain

Digestive problems

Headaches and migraines

Muscle tension

Stress and Anxiety

Tiredness and sleep disorders

Circulatory disorders

Lack of flexibility

When the whole energy system is fully balanced it enables the body's own healing mechanism to take effect, creating well being.

The Treatment

The treatment is carried out on a futon mattress on the floor. The patient should wear loose comfortable clothing and have an empty stomach (refraining from eating for about 1½ hours prior to the treatment).

Traditionally in Thailand the balancing of the whole energy system can take anywhere between 1½ to 2½ hours.

Sarah is always very happy to discuss any queries you may have about her treatments in advance either in person or on the phone.
